Q: With a return to remote learning across the District, I need a laptop for my child. Can I get a loaner?

A: Please contact your school principal to check out a laptop.

Q: Will schools still offer the on-campus supervision program? How do I sign my children up?

A: Schools will offer on-campus supervision. Learn more and apply here: https://www.amphi.com/Domain/4874.

Q:  Will the preschools in the district stay open or will they close?

A: Fee-based preschools will be closed the week of Jan. 4 to Jan. 8 and will reopen on Jan. 11. Remote instruction may be available during the week preschools are. Contact your preschool director for more information. Preschools serving students with special needs will offer remote and  by-appointment services. Please contact your preschool for more information.

Q: What about children who are getting special education services at school? Will you still offer in-person for them?

A: Students who qualify to receive special education services will be able to receive services remotely or by appointment.  Please talk with your student’s case manager for more information.

Q: Will the District still offer meal service? When and where can I get meals for my children?

Q: Given the high case numbers and the return to remote, will you offer more opportunities to remain fully virtual and end the Amphi Academy Online waiting list?

A: We will be providing remote instruction until we are advised by the Pima County Health Department that they support hybrid learning. Unless students currently enrolled in Amphi Academy Online return to on-campus learning, we do not expect a change in access.

Q: What does this mean for sports?

A: Athletics are currently following Scenario 3 as outlined by the AIA through the winter break. We will be updating this decision after the winter break.

Q: Now that we are returning to remote learning again, can our district please have bus drivers pick up children who desperately need to be at school for supervision but have no way of getting to school?

A: District bus drivers will be providing on-campus supervision and will not be running routes during the Remote by Necessity period.

Q: I had decided to send my child from Amphi Academy Online back to school on Jan. 4, and then I got the letter about remote learning. Who I need to talk to get my child back to school and how I get her curriculum for remote learning?

A: Please talk to your school principal to enroll in on-campus learning.

Q: I answered a survey and said I planned to stay in Amphi Academy Online. But I made that decision based on high COVID numbers. Now that you are going to remote learning until the numbers are better, I’ve changed my mind. I want to enroll in my child’s home school. What do I need to do?

A: If you decide to enroll in on-campus learning, please contact your principal. If you are currently enrolled in Amphi Academy Online, we cannot guarantee a spot will be open for your child if you change your mind when schools open for hybrid learning. That date is expected to be Jan. 19.

Q: Will teachers be able to work from home during the Remote by Necessity period? Do they need to apply again?

A: Teachers and staff who were approved to work from home earlier this school year do not need to apply again. Please consult with your supervisor if you wish to work from hope during the Remote by Necessity period.

Q: Will staff members who are working at their school sites be allowed to bring their own children with them again?

A: If you were permitted to bring your children to school earlier this year during Remote by Necessity, you may do so again.

Q: Do we anticipate that the change to remote will create a significant change in parent choice (will AAO student numbers and in school numbers change)?

A: No. We anticipate the Remote by Necessity period will be brief, and it’s in the best interest of children to stay where they are or make a shift for at least the full quarter.

Q: What criteria will we use to make a change from remote back to hybrid?

A: We will base the decision to go back into the hybrid model on guidance from the Pima County Health Department.

Q: Will we continue to have two weeks’ notice for families and staff to prepare for any changes?

A: We will do our best to notify staff and parents in a timely fashion.
